What if I have to cancel my reservation?

Every booking has a cancellation policy stated before you complete the transaction.

There are several very important things to know about the topic of cancellation.

1.  The cancellation policies are not that of TravelingToGive or any of our other sister brands, but they are the policies set by the individual hotels.

2.  You must READ VERY CAREFULLY as the fine print can be different than your assumption.

3.  If the hotel room type in the system says Free Cancellation, that does NOT mean that it is cancellable right up to the date of travel.

Here are a couple of room types at the same hotel.

The first says FREE Cancellation.  The second one says Cancellation Options (which you can and should click).

Many hotels have cancellation up to a particular number of days prior to arrival, then a few days of partial cancellation and then at some point, there is no refund (if you prepaid).

This is detailed on the checkout page.  Again, every policy is slightly different and it is imperative that you understand how it impacts you.  If you have any doubt that you will travel, you may either book a pay when you stay room (if offered) OR you may purchase travel insurance (understanding that there are also terms and conditions governing travel insurance as well).

If you need to cancel

If the rate you booked allows cancellation, you will be able to cancel it online or by phone through our toll free number.   Please pay special attention to the refund policy, as there may be a fee associated with the cancellation enforced by the hotel.

➡️. Simply select Manage My Trips on the bottom center of the Smart Trip Tool.

How do I cancel my reservation online?

Once you have displayed the  Manage my Trips link, this screen will display.

It will show future bookings, past bookings and cancelled bookings.

If you do not have a VIP account, you will need your Trip Number and the email used to do the booking.

Many rates are published as "non-refundable" which means that even if you have to cancel, you are not due a refund.

We highly recommend buying travel insurance, but you should also be aware that all cancellation reasons are not necessarily covered by travel insurance.

BEWARE OF THE ALLURE OF THE NON-REFUNDABLE RATE
