The Smart Trip Pin Extension gives you a new landing page and application launcher for frequently used Google applications.
It also give you ability to book your trip from a search on Chrome, from your Google Calendar or Google Contacts or even from a Google Map
The images are courtesy of Unsplash and they will rotate as you open a new tab.
You can control the items on the launcher from your Google launcher, which is to the left of your photo in the upper right corner of any Chrome landing page.
After you Install the Google Chrome Extension

When it is installed, you will see the new landing page and the Smart Trip Pin icon in the Extension Toolbar.
In this example, we dragged the icon to the left side of the toolbar. Yours may be on the right when you install it. If you can't see it, click on the puzzle piece and then click on the PIN next to the name of the extension in the drop down list.
GOOGLE Chrome Search or any Website display
When you have the Smart Trip Pin installed, if the search results produces a specific result on the right column of the page, then if you press on the extension, it will auto-fill the address.
When you do ANY search on Google Chrome, you can highlight any company or location name, or any address and click on the Smart Trip Pin and you can then plan your trip to that place by entering your travel date. You may also right click the highlighted item and choose Find a Hotel Nearby "%DESTINATION NAME%"
GOOGLE Calendar - Lodging
This is one of our favorite features of the new Smart Trip Pin. Right from any calendar entry with a physical address, you can find your lodging (and other travel plans) nearby simply by opening the calendar item and then clicking on the Smart Trip Pin extension. It will autofill everything right from the calendar entry.
Driving Directions and Car Rental or Air Ticket to your meeting
If you don't need a hotel, but do need driving directions and/or a car rental or air, you have that capability as well.
Google Contacts
Our Google Contacts are most often used to look up emails and mobile numbers, but imagine being able to use it to find lodging nearby any company or person in your Contacts. Now with Smart Trip Pin you can.
Google Maps
Even though Google Maps has a hotel button built in, it can take more than a dozen clicks to find the property that you want to book and even then, there are often more than half a dozen places to book, each with their own user experience and contact number if you need support.
With the Smart Trip Pin, once you enter your travel dates, it is just one click, then you can compare the results and have a single contact number if you need to cancel or make a change.
Imagine being able to find out if your favorite hotel (or the place where your friends/colleagues are staying) is available and if not, finding a place nearby.
Events.com Discover Events™
Events.com Calendar Pages on Newspaper Sites
If your local newspaper is powered by Events.com and looks like this site, we have pre-programmed the ability to plan your trip to the event.
Get Creative with ANY Website or System
No matter what site or system you are on, you can highlight the name of a place, a company, a venue or an address and the Smart Trip Pin will find the lodging nearby. Just highlight the name/address and click on the Smart Trip Pin in the Extension toolbar.
In this example, I went into our CRM and highlighted the name of one of our clients, the U.S. Christian Chamber of Commerce. This is the result. Notice that it shows the total price for the two days of travel, including the taxes and fees.
